SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic gives each SEC fanbase an XFL team to root for
The XFL season is getting ready to start in 11 days, and the 8 teams have plenty of former SEC players all over their rosters.
We’ll see which of the 8 teams — the St. Louis BattleHawks, the Seattle Dragons, the Los Angeles Wildcats, the DC Defenders, the Houston Roughnecks, the Tampa Bay Vipers, the New York Guardians and the Dallas Renegades — wins the first XFL title.
On Tuesday, SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic took to Twitter to provide each SEC fan base a team to root for in this upcoming season:
ARKANSAS: Your XFL team is the @XFLRoughnecks Cult hero offensive lineman Sebastian Tretola is on the roster! The other two franchises with former Razorbacks are St Louis (They have 2 Missouri players) & Seattle (They have 2 Missouri players & an LSU player). Geography also helps

FLORIDA: Your XFL team is the @XFLBattleHawks Yes, the geography obviously works with Tampa. They also have 4 former Gators. But with 3 UGA players & an LSU player no sane UF fan could root for that. You get RB Matt Jones & S Will Hill to cheer on with some blue in the colors.

KENTUCKY: Your XFL team is the @XFLDefenders with former Wildcat OL Jon Toth. I understand Austin MacGinnis is in Dallas & hit more FG's than any player in UK history but he is a kicker…Dallas also has a VFL on the roster. Mumme was a nice story there but you get DC.

OLE MISS: Your XFL team is the @XFLBattleHawks You get Ta'amu at QB & while it is a tough pill to swallow rooting for a team with Nick Fitzgerald take joy in that Jordan will most likely start. Geography along with DL Channing Ward make this a fit. HOU has too many rival players.

MISSOURI: Your XFL team is the @XFLBattleHawks of course proximity is nice. Two former WR's on the roster in L'Damian Washington & Marcus Lucas. Also the WR coach won a Super Bowl in your state (Az-Zahir Hakim). HOU & SEA were possibe but Tretola is in HOU & SEA has 2 Kansas guys

TENNESSEE: Your XFL team is @XFLWildcats w/DT Kahlil MacKenzie on the team. There are VFL's in HOU/SEA/DAL but DAL has a Kentucky kicker. HOU has a Bama guy. SEA has a TE that that transferred to another SEC school! LA also has some orange in the color scheme. Get over the VU guy

VANDERBILT: Your XFL team is the @XFLGuardians with DL Charles Wright. Honestly we just needed someone to represent NY here. LA has a VFL & STL has enough SEC support. Uniforms are black ok. There are no other players that played college ball in the state of Tennessee on roster.

Will the XFL last longer than the Alliance of American Football, which folded after only a few weeks in 2019? We’ll find out if the XFL can at least make it through its inaugural season without collapsing.
