Mark Stoops and Kentucky won several tight ball games last season and it appears it has not taken long for the Wildcat program to find itself in another dog fight early in 2020.

According to Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio, Kentucky associate head coach/tight ends coach Vince Marrow has been targeted as Youngstown State’s replacement for Bo Pelini. Pelini, previously the head coach of Youngstown State, left the program this week to take over as LSU’s new defensive coordinator.

“Sources tell KSR that Vince Marrow is in talks with Youngstown State, and is currently deciding whether or not to consider or to go there,” Jones said on his radio show on Thursday. “So, I don’t know how long that will take I don’t know what that decision process will be, but that he is, he has had conversations with Youngstown State, and is in the process now of deciding what he will do.”

Marrow has been on staff at Kentucky during Stoops’ entire tenure and is considered the top recruiter on the Wildcat staff. In addition to his outstanding track record in recruiting, Marrow has also developed standout Kentucky tight end, C.J. Conrad.

Marrow is an Ohio native and played at Youngstown State for a time before transferring to Toledo. He has experience coaching in high school, NFL Europe, the UFL, Toledo and Nebraska before landing on Stoops’ staff in Lexington back in 2013.
