Most awards for the 2019 college football season have already been handed out, but there’s still Uniswag’s “Uniform of the Year Award.” Two SEC programs, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt, are up for the honor.

The nominees consist of Uniswag’s “Uniform of the Week” winner for every week of the season, plus an at-large addition, Army’s special uniform for Army-Navy. MSU won for Week 13 while Vanderbilt won for Week 4.

The nominated Mississippi State uniforms are the special “Primeknit #A1” uniforms worn in the game against Abilene Christian. The uniforms were inspired by former Mississippi State administrator Dr. Theodore K. ‘T.K.’ Martin.

Nike’s “Battle Ready” alternates for Vanderbilt earned a nomination after earning the “Uniform of the Week” honor in Week 4. The uniforms included 82 rivets painted on the helmet in honor of Turner Cockrell, who died of cancer in November 2018. He wore No. 82.

“In order to realize the worth of the anchor, we need to feel the stress of the storm,” coach Derek Mason said in a promotional video released at the unveiling in August. “Rivets are the strength of the ship — 82 rivets for our strength and our rock Turner Cockrell, who was always battle ready.”
