One of the draft’s rising prospects has reportedly been given some unfortunate news during his appearance at the combine.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the medical exams at the 2020 NFL Combine have revealed a Jones Fracture in Van Jefferson’s right foot. If this information is accurate, Jefferson will need surgery to correct the issue and be out for 6-8 weeks.

Obviously, no player wants to be sidelined during this important pre-draft period, but the good news is Jefferson’s issue was identified now and the receiver should be at 100 percent by the time the offseason training begins for the former Florida receiver after he is selected in the 2020 NFL Draft. It’s better to get this issue fixed now and not miss any of his team’s offseason activities following the draft.

According to Schefter, this injury, and pending surgery, is not expected to affect Jefferson’s draft stock.

In his two seasons in Gainesville, Jefferson caught 84 passes for 1,180 yards and 12 touchdowns. Before arriving at Florida, Jefferson played two seasons for Ole Miss, where he caught 91 passes for 999 yards and four touchdowns.

Jefferson is the son of former NFL player and current NFL assistant coach, Shawn Jefferson.
