Mississippi State appears to be losing some depth on the team’s defensive line.

That’s due to the fact rising sophomore Fabien Lovett has announced that he has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Lovett appeared in 11 games last season for the Bulldogs during his redshirt freshman season and made 19 tackles, had 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack.

Lovett has three years of eligibility remaining in college football. He is a native of Olive Branch, Miss., and was on the 2018-19 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.

It should be noted that a player can enter the NCAA transfer portal and remain with his school. Entering the transfer database simply allows for other programs to contact prospects regarding a potential transfer.

Lovett signed with Mississippi State in the 2018 recruiting class. He was rated as a three-star prospect coming out of Olive Branch High School and held offers from Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss and Memphis.
