On Saturday, president Donald Trump spoke with a dozen pro sports commissioners and executives about the coronavirus pandemic.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Adrian Wojnarowski, the president expressed that he’d like to have the NFL season start as scheduled in September.

Per the report, Trump would also like to have fans back in the stands as soon as possible:

Trump also said he hopes to have fans back in stadiums and arenas by August and September, sources said, though it is currently unclear if medical experts find that to be a realistic timeline amid the current coronavirus pandemic.

Based on some recent reports from health experts, it seems August might be a bit early for fans to return. However, the start of football season is a goal that is, perhaps, still within reach.

The next couple of months are going to be hugely important in trying to get this pandemic under control.
