After all the pre-draft speculation and rumors, Tua Tagovailoa ended up right where most expected him to go as the Alabama quarterback was selected with the No. 5 overall pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 2020 NFL Draft.

After being selected by the team, Tua sat down with Travis Wingfield of the Miami Dolphins “Drive Time Podcast” to discuss his thoughts on being taken by the franchise.

“I tell you what, it’s been a dream. It’s been a dream to have an opportunity like this,” Tagovailoa said on draft day. “It’s not just big for me, it’s for my family as well. I just want to thank the fans for the love and support but I also want to thank you know owner Steven Ross, I want to thank Chris Greer and head coach, Coach Flores for giving me this opportunity to play for Miami.”

One interesting comment Tua shared during the interview, his family plans on staying in Alabama as his younger brother Taulia is currently on the Crimson Tide roster. Some fans have questioned what the tight-knit family would do following Tua’s selection but the new Dolphin quarterback says he’ll be moving to Miami on his own.

“It’s similar weather but sadly I’ll be the only one coming out there to Miami,” Tagovailoa shared. “My parents are studying out here and focusing on my brother who’s in college and my two younger sisters. It’s going to have to be a new home away from home.”
