Commissioner Larry Scott confident Pac-12 will play this fall; describes need for uniform safety protocols
As other Power 5 conferences slowly start to bring players back to campus next month, the Pac-12 will take its time, due in large part to some of the member states’ continuing strict quarantine orders.
However, during an appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Tuesday, Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott expressed confidence that the conference will play this fall.
He also addressed the need to have uniform safety protocols in place across college football, especially during nonconference play when teams will be traveling from different parts of the country:
Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott on the level of concern that not all teams in his conference will be able to play football this fall. "At this stage, I don't have that concern."

Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott says he is concerned about having a common set of safety protocols across all conferences for non-conference games. “I think you’ll want a level of confidence that the team on the other side of the field has followed a similar protocol” for safety.

The Pac-12 has a couple of intriguing matchups with other major conferences, including Alabama-USC in Week 1, Oregon-Ohio State in Week 2 and Colorado-Texas A&M in Week 3.
What sorts of safety precautions will be taken if those games go on as scheduled? That’s what much of the next 3 months will likely be spent figuring out.
