Report: Former Auburn WR Marquis McClain announces FCS transfer destination
The Auburn Tigers lost a rising redshirt senior receiver to the NCAA transfer portal back in December.
That player was Marquis McClain, who had appeared in 37 games over the course of his Auburn career after redshirting back in 2016.
According to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz, McClain has told him he’s transferring to the FCS level to play for Southern this fall:
Former Auburn wide receiver Marquis McClain told me he’s going to be transferring to Southern.
Was one of the top teams in the SWAC last year and played in the conference title game. https://t.co/edJFrSSFOv

In his 37 games of action, McClain appeared mostly on special teams. He did record 3 catches for 84 yards during his Auburn career.
Southern plays in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. In 2019, the Jaguars went 8-5 overall, including a 6-1 record in the SWAC. They lost the conference title game to Alcorn State.
