The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has led to an NFL offseason unlike any other in recent memory. On Saturday, NFL general managers and head coaches were officially notified of the dates when players can start reporting for training camp.

Rookies will be the first players allowed to report to camps, starting Tuesday, July 21. Veteran quarterbacks and injured players will report two days later on July 23. All other players are set to report to camp on July 28. The dates will be different for Houston and Kansas City, the teams scheduled to play in the 2020 Kickoff Game on Sept. 10, per the memo shared on Twitter by NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.

This year’s changes to the NFL offseason has had many media members and former players debating whether rookies, especially high-profile quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa, will be ready to start in Week 1 of the 2020 season. Typically, teams hold a three-day rookie minicamp in May shortly following the late-April/early-May draft. Training camps also traditionally open in mid-July with the Hall of Fame Game kicking off the preseason slate in early August. This year’s Hall of Fame Game, scheduled for Aug. 6, has been canceled.
