As SEC football action got underway on Saturday, there was no shortage of great individual performances across the board.

ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit took to Twitter to give his top 5 performers of the week, and the SEC claimed 4 of the 5 he listed.

It’s no surprise he had record-setting Mississippi State QB KJ Costello at No. 1:

Costello was an easy choice, as the Mississippi State QB shattered the single-game SEC record for passing yards with 623 to go with 5 touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ upset of No. 6 LSU.

Another SEC signal-caller got in the mix, with Florida’s Kyle Trask, who tossed 6 touchdowns on 416 yards while completing 30 of his 42 pass attempts as the Gators rolled over Ole Miss.

Alabama wideout Jaylen Waddle came in at No. 3 after he caught 8 balls for 134 yards and 2 scores in the Tide’s dominant win over Mizzou, and Auburn WR Seth Williams rounded out the 5 with his 6 catches for 112 yards and 2 touchdowns in the home victory over Kentucky.

With the Big Ten and Pac-12 currently not in action, expect to see a lot more SEC representation on Herbie’s top performing players each week, especially early on in the season.
