Smael Mondon, a 5-star outside linebacker from Dallas, Georgia has set a date for his commitment as he will soon pick from one of five finalists that are all SEC schools.

Mondon is rated as the No. 25 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 2 outside linebacker in the 2021 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. His finalists are Tennessee, LSU, Auburn, Florida and Georgia. He plans to announce on Nov. 18.

About four months ago, Rivals National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell made his prediction.

“This is a hard one to call as Mondon is relatively quiet about the process and has interest in some great programs. Right now, I would say Georgia has the edge as Mondon is an in-state prospect and is such a priority in the class for Smart,” Farrell wrote.

Overall, Mondon has 37 offers, and is listed at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds.

This is part of his 247Sports scouting report: Possesses outstanding length for a linebacker. Has some muscle mass without bad weight. Should fill out significantly once he gets in a college strength and conditioning program. Shows his athletic ability playing all over the field for his high school team as a ball carrier on offense and linebacker on defense. Has the speed to outrun defenses for long scores.
