Georgia was left without an official Senior Day this year due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Bulldogs were originally set to play Vanderbilt, but after 2 postponements, the game was ultimately canceled. Georgia’s 49-14 win over Missouri then turned out to be its regular-season finale as it was unable to find an opponent to replace the Commodores on Dec. 19.

It will be in the running for a New Year’s 6 bowl, however, and it could very well be the Peach Bowl at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on Jan. 1. If that is the case, the Bulldogs’ senior class, as well as that of their opponent, would be honored prior to the game, according to Peach Bowl CEO Gary Stokan.

“That is a great idea, and we would do that, for sure. We’d do that in our game if it’s Georgia,” Stokan told Rivals affiliate UGASports.com on Thursday. “We’d do it for both teams. I think if the teams wanted to do it, we’d certainly do something special for those senior classes.”

The Dawgs haven’t stepped foot on the Sanford Stadium field since a win over Mississippi State on Nov.21. While they would have enjoyed one final sendoff between the hedges, the Peach Bowl idea is certainly a worthy fill-in.
