Ikenna Okeke’s impact on the Texas A&M football program wasn’t as noticeable as he would have hoped, and the possibility of the 5th-year senior returning for a final season in 2021 was certainly a possibility.

The linebacker from Smyrna, Tenn., however, has opted to depart the program after having already graduated from the university. He made the announcement on his Instagram account on Tuesday.

After redshirting in 2016, Okeke played in just 2 games in 2017. He hoped to play a bigger role in 2018, but that season was wiped out as he suffered a knee injury.

He saw action in 10 games in 2019, primarily on special teams. In 2020, he was on the field for 3 games.
