Herb Jones discusses his back injury, what he's working on to get back to full strength
Alabama continues to dominate the SEC portion of its schedule. Herb Jones has been a big reason for the Tide’s 12-1 start in league play and is considered by many to be the SEC Player of the Year frontrunner.
Alabama scored a school-record 115 points in an SEC game on Saturday against Georgia, and Jones led the way with 21 points.
However, he’s been dealing with a back injury over the last few weeks, and he’s still not at full strength. Appearing on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Monday, Jones said he’s at about 80% health-wise:

Herb Jones @_hoopinglife says on @finebaum that he’s playing at “about 80 percent” right now. “I’m really trying to work on my explosiveness now, driving off my right leg. They haven’t given me a timetable (to be 100 percent).”

If he can rest his back at any time before the postseason, it would be a big boost for the Tide. Coach Nate Oats said Jones could potentially sit if the Tide lock up the regular-season title with a couple of games left to go.
We’ll see what happens moving forward, but if this is Jones at 80%, opponents are going to have no chance against him when he’s fully healthy.
