It appears the analysts breaking down the 2021 NFL Draft are having a tough time placing Mac Jones.

The quarterback of the reigning national champions can be found all over mock drafts, depending on where you look, as Jones has made appearances in the top 10 of some mock drafts and has been found near the bottom half of others.

In Mel Kiper’s updated mock draft, his third mock draft leading up to the 2021 draft, the long-time ESPN analyst has Jones falling in the first round and outside the top 10 overall picks.

While prospects are paid based on their draft selection, dropping a few spots may be ideal for Jones if in fact the New England Patriots select him, as Kiper is currently predicting.

After Jones played for Nick Saban in college, there wouldn’t be much of a transition playing for Bill Belichick in the NFL for the Alabama quarterback.

Considering Cam Newton just signed on for one more season in New England, Jones would also have a defined path to the field following a debut NFL season that would likely begin on the bench.
