The biggest game of Week 1 will take place in Charlotte, where No. 3 Clemson and No. 5 Georgia will meet.

Many analysts and fans expect that to be a close, hard-fought game. However, don’t count Pro Football Focus’s Anthony Treash among those analysts.

In an “8 bold predictions for the 2021 college football season” article, Treash predicted the Tigers would wallop the Bulldogs by double-digits. He said he expects Clemson DC Brent Venables’ defense to be too much for Georgia QB JT Daniels to handle:

Brent Venables and Co. will be a difficult test for Daniels; it will be our first indication of whether the quarterback has taken a step forward. The Tigers are a three-and-a-half-point favorite over the Bulldogs in their Week 1 showdown.

The game obviously has College Football Playoff implications for both teams. While neither team would likely be “eliminated” from Playoff contention with a loss, a blowout might hurt them in the eyes of the CFP committee.

We’ll see if Treash’s prediction comes true, but Georgia’s defense should have plenty to say in that game, too.
