ESPN’s Joe Tessitore on Friday morning joined “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” on WJOX out of Birmingham, Alabama to discuss the latest developments in college football.

Tessitore broke down some of the premier matchups in the SEC for week six on the show.

Tessitore opened with a statement about how much better Alabama and Georgia are than everyone else.

“Do you have a telescope I could borrow,” said Tessitore. “For how far that distance is between what i see out of the top two teams, and the group of contenders that you want me to come up with? It’s probably as big of a gap as we’ve seen in recent college history. It’s not that we haven’t seen excellent college teams. What we have here, are two A plus teams, and a lot of teams where you could point the finger and say really good solid team that’s deserving of a new years six, a team that’s worthy of playing for a conference championship, but not a team that brings you great confidence in winning a national championship.”

Tessitore also talked about how the teams that just played Georgia and Alabama could bounce back.

“Whoever finishes second in the SEC West is going to have a resume that will earn a trip to the Sugar Bowl,” said Tessitore. “The more I dig into the Ole Miss/Arkansas game, the more intriguing it gets. Can we stop pointing fingers at Ole Miss and Arkansas, that had everything to do with how good Alabama and Georgia really are? As much as we talk about the Ole Miss passing attack and Arkansas running attack, will Ole Miss be able to run the football and what will this Arkansas defense look like. It’s a tremendous matchup that you really wanna sink your teeth into.”

Lastly, Tessitore broke down another key matchup in the SEC for week six in No. 2 Georgia and No. 18 Auburn.

“You have a coaching staff that used that Georgia State game to light a fire,” said Tessitore. “Saying, where do you guys wanna be? How do you wanna approach this? Will it be a spirited fight for 60 minutes? I dont know. There is a gap between those 2 rosters. I think the North Star is what they’re aiming at, and they’re aiming in the right direction. It’s just gonna take some time with roster management.”
