There weren’t many high-profile games on the college football schedule for Week 8, but it was still a volatile weekend.

Several ranked teams lost, including Penn State’s shocking home defeat at the hands of Illinois, while highly rated Oklahoma and Cincinnati looked arguably underserving of their lofty rankings.

The on-field results created some movement in the weekly ESPN Power Rankings, with Alabama jumping to No. 2 just behind Georgia, which had a bye on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide had been 3rd a week ago and as low as 5th after its Week 6 loss at Texas A&M.

Also representing the SEC in the latest Power Rankings are Ole Miss at No. 9, Texas A&M at No. 13, Kentucky at No. 14, and Auburn at No. 21.
