Joe Brady was recently fired as the offensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers, but the former LSU passing game coordinator may be headed south again to return to college football.

Both the Associated Press’ Tim Reynolds and Mike Ryan Ruiz of the Dan LeBatard Show have reported that there is mutual interest between Mario Cristobal, the new Miami coach, and Brady.

“I know conversations have already been had & comms are open,” Ryan wrote Tuesday on Twitter. “I don’t know where it stands at this very moment. But there is certainly something to it. It would be a tremendous hire, IMO.”

Brady was a wunderkind on the LSU staff in 2019 that won the national championship, and that elevated his profile to be hired by Matt Rhule of the Panthers on his first staff in Carolina. Brady is a native of Miami Lakes, Florida.

Brady has been mentioned for several college football openings in the last year. His previous coaching stops include the New Orleans Saints (2017-18), Penn State as a graduate assistant (2015-16) and William & Mary (2013-14).
