Brian Kelly is excited that Kolbe Fields is back in The Boot.

LSU announced Fields, a Louisiana native who played at South Carolina in 2021 before entering the transfer portal, as a Tiger on Sunday. Head coach Brian Kelly welcomed Fields and shared his excitement on Twitter after the official announcement.

“Kolbe comes from a winning high school football program, and he plays the game with speed and physicality. He’s a winner, and he is going to win a lot of football games as a Tiger. Good to have you back in The Boot, @therealkolbe,” Kelly tweeted.

“Glad to be home, ready to work,” Fields replied.

A Metairie native, Fields was rated 3-stars, the No. 24 Louisiana recruit, No. 81 linebacker and No. 796 recruit overall in the class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite. He chose South Carolina over 8 other scholarship offers, including Oklahoma State and Purdue. In his season with the Gamecocks, Fields appeared in 4 games, which means he can take a redshirt for the 2021 season and have 4 years of eligibility remaining with the Tigers.
