Billy Napier told reporters Friday that Florida will begin its spring practice on March 15. Napier stated the date when discussing entering “the next phase” of the team’s 2022 campaign.

When Napier was initially introduced, he discussed dividing each season into 8 “phases.”

So our football plan is broken into 8 phases. I’ll give you the quick version here — foundation, identity, spring practice, discretionary period, summer regimen, training camp, in season and postseason.

Friday was the start of the Identity phase.

In Friday’s press conference, Napier discussed what the Identity phase entails.

“We’re trying to build the momentum toward spring practice. We start position meetings today,” Napier said. “It’s really our first opportunity with the core of our team that’s here to work with the staff. You have attrition, so it’s a new group, new roles.”

Napier continued.

“Each one of these 15 days we’ll have a position meeting, and we’ll start implementing some football into what we do,” the head coach said. “It’s kind of part of that transition into spring practice, which will start March the 15th.”

Florida previously announced that the Orange and Blue spring game will be held on April 16.
