Auburn’s loss to Arkansas caused the Tigers to slip from the No. 1 ranking in the AP Top 25 men’s basketball poll as Gonzaga returned to the top position it held until about a month ago. Auburn sits at No. 2 this week.

In other SEC news, Kentucky moved up one spot to No. 4, and Tennessee moved up 3 spots to No. 16. As expected, previously unranked Arkansas entered the poll at No. 23, and Alabama also joined the poll at No. 25. Oscar Tsbiebwe continued to build his case for National Player of the Year honors, as he had 27 points and 19 rebounds to lead Kentucky to a 78-57 win over Florida on Saturday.

Auburn’s loss at Arkansas snapped the Tigers’ 19-game winning streak, but the Tigers bounced back with a win Saturday behind a triple-double from Walker Kessler. With the win, the Tigers (22-2, 11-1) kept their lead atop the SEC standings. They will be back home Wednesday night to take on Vanderbilt.

Meanwhile, Gonzaga’s pair of convincing wins over Pacific and Saint Mary’s should be enough to push the Bulldogs to No. 1. Auburn still received 4 first-place votes, while Gonzaga got 56 first-place votes.

The SEC slate should yield some impressive games down the stretch of the regular season, as Kentucky closes out February at Tennessee, followed by home games against Alabama and LSU and a road game at Arkansas.
