Eric Musselman and the Arkansas Razorbacks scored a narrow 77-76 victory over the LSU Tigers on Wednesday night at Bud Walton Arena.

But, despite beating the Tigers, the Razorbacks’ NET ranking only moved from 23 to 21. LSU stayed at No. 16 in the NET even after losing. Arkansas is behind Kentucky (No. 5), Tennessee (No. 9), Auburn (No. 10) and LSU — all teams the Hogs have recently defeated.

After the game, Musselman was as confused as the rest of us about how exactly those rankings work:

“I’m looking at this stuff and it’s like, a team wins and they drop,” he said. “What is this? … The last 15 games, how we’re playing, I hope that gets heavily considered as well as we get ready for Selection Sunday.”

Arkansas travels to Tennessee to finish out the regular season on Saturday. We’ll see how the Hogs’ NET ranking is affected after that game, win or lose. It’s anyone’s guess at this point.
