ESPN’s FPI ranked each SEC team’s chances to win the conference in 2022.

Every team in the SEC was given a percentage to win the SEC. There was a large gap between the top two teams and the rest of the conference. Alabama landed at the top of the rankings with a 49.3% chance to win the conference. Georgia came in at No. 2 with a 47.1% chance to win the SEC in 2022.

After Georgia, Kentucky was placed at No. 3 with a 0.9% chance to become SEC champions. Right behind Kentucky was LSU with a percentage of 0.8 to win the SEC. Here are the full percentages for each SEC team:

  • Alabama – 49.3%
  • Georgia – 47.1%
  • Kentucky – 0.9%
  • LSU – 0.8%
  • Auburn – 0.4%
  • Texas A&M – 0.4%
  • Florida – 0.3%
  • Ole Miss – 0.3%
  • Arkansas – 0.2%
  • Tennessee – 0.2%
  • Mississippi State – 0.1%
  • South Carolina – 0.1%
  • Missouri – 0.0%
  • Vanderbilt – 0.0%

While Georgia and Alabama were given the two best chances to win the conference, every other team was given less than 1% to win. Missouri and Vanderbilt were not given any percentage to win the SEC in 2022.

The SEC still seems to be controlled by Alabama and Georgia. It will be interesting to see if another team can prove these percentages wrong and win the conference. Since 2014, Alabama won the SEC Championship every year except for 2017 and 2019 when Georgia and LSU won the conference. Alabama won the last two SEC Championships.
