Dijon Johnson, a blue-chip defensive back from Tampa, has decided to stay close to home. Johnson, a former Ohio State pledge with 37 scholarship offers, announced his commitment to Florida on Thursday.

A Wharton High School standout, Johnson is listed at 6-1, 190 pounds. On the 247Sports composite rankings, Johnson is rated the No. 7 safety, No. 21 Sunshine State recruit and No. 96 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2023.

Gator Nation’s recruitniks have been following Johnson closely for the past couple of months. Johnson committed to Ohio State on April 17, but visited UF in late July and publicly decommitted from the Buckeyes. Now, he’s pledged to play for the Gators.

Now, he’s finally in Billy Napier’s first full-cycle recruiting class.

In its first full recruiting cycle, Billy Napier’s Florida staff now has 22 commitments, including 17 Composite 4-stars, following pledges from Johnson and Bryce Thornton on Thursday. Johnson’s highlights can be viewed below, via Hudl:
