Lane Kiffin met with the media Wednesday during the weekly SEC coaches teleconference.

He was asked about rumors linking him with the job opening that was created at Auburn earlier this week with Bryan Harsin’s firing.

Kiffin made it clear that he wasn’t interested in discussing such rumors.

He was, however, willing to talk about another college football coach whose name has been connected with the Auburn vacancy and other Power 5 jobs.

The coach in question? Deion Sanders.

“I think he’d do great,” Kiffin said. “I think that’s a great name and I think they should hire him. Great recruiter, great name. … Now you have the portal. You can change a roster faster than you ever could before and you can lose a roster faster than ever before. The ability to hire Deion and have that name right away, you can get portal players to come play for him.”

Sanders has Jackson State at 8-0 on the season and is 23-5 overall in his 3rd season at the school.

The Rebels, meanwhile, are 8-1 as they head into their bye week.
