College Football Playoff rankings, Nov. 22: Latest top 25 of 2022 season released
The latest College Football Playoff rankings were released on Tuesday night on ESPN following a week where several top contenders had narrow or last-second victories.
Committee chair Boo Corrigan, the athletics director at NC State, discussed the latest changes to the rankings, the ninth of the CFP format with ESPN’s Rece Davis.
Tennessee, previously ranked No. 5, suffered the largest upset of Saturday, but other top teams had white-knuckle finishes.
TCU and Michigan both needed field goals in the final second to stay unbeaten. Georgia used several field goals to slowly pull away in frosty Lexington against Kentucky, as the Wildcats never seriously threatened the Bulldogs, though the win wouldn’t receive any style points.
Also in the Big Ten, Ohio State trailed at the half against Maryland, and the Terps kept it tight deep into the second half before the Buckeyes prevailed. All eyes will be on “The Game” this week when Michigan visits Ohio State.
The committee members continue to convene in person on Mondays and Tuesdays, and reveal their rankings each week on ESPN.
The final selection committee rankings of the 2022 season will be released on selection day, Sunday, December 4.
The CFP games will be played at the Peach Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.
