Jatius Geer is heading back home to South Carolina. The Anderson native is joining the Gamecocks after 2 seasons at Syracuse.

Geer announced his transfer to South Carolina on Thursday via social media.

Out of Belton-Honea Path, Geer was a prospect in the Class of 2021. He was rated 3-stars and the No. 13 player in the state of South Carolina on the 247Sports Composite. He picked up 19 scholarship offers, signing with Syracuse.

Geer made just 1 appearance in Syracuse’s 2021 season, taking a redshirt for the year. This past season, Geer played in all 13 games for the Orange, making 12 starts at defensive end.

In his redshirt freshman season, Geer recorded 33 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 6 quarterback hurries, 1 forced fumble and 1 blocked kick. Geer’s 3.5 sacks tied for 5th-most by a Syracuse freshman in program history.

Geer, listed at 6-6, 233 pounds, has 3 remaining seasons of eligibility.
