Alabama vs. UConn: Sportsbooks share how Final Four showdown is being bet

Alabama faces a tall order. The 4-seed Crimson Tide plays 1-seed UConn on Saturday night in Arizona (8:49 p.m. ET, TBS).

The Huskies are defending national champions and have looked dominant in their bid to repeat.

“One of the bigger stories of either tournament has been the dominance of Connecticut. They won it all last year, covering the spread in every game, and they’ve covered the spread in their four wins so far in this tournament, most by a large margin,” a FanDuel Sportsbook trader shared with SDS ahead of Saturday’s game.

“They’ve looked more dominant than any team in a while, but Alabama presents a stylistic challenge as a team that runs a lot and shoots a ton of threes.”

FanDuel Sportsbook has Alabama as an 11.5-point underdog. Betting against the spread, UA is priced at -106. If the Crimson Tide can avoid losing by 12 or more points, a bet of $106 would win $100.

Splits of the spread are going UConn’s way. Alabama with the points is getting 35% of bets for 25% of the handle (money bet).

For moneyline bettors, Bama is an attractive option. UA is +570 to win straight up. A Tide victory would turn a $100 into a $670 payout.

As a heavy favorite, UConn is -850, meaning $850 would need to be wagered to win $100 with a Huskies victory.

Alabama bettors, though, are not very confident. While UA is getting 87% of moneyline bets, the Tide has just 45% of the moneyline handle.

Action on over/under, props offers further insight into type of game bettors expect

BetMGM set the game’s opening point total at 161.5 for over/under betting. Ahead of Saturday’s game, the line has moved down to 160.5. Both options are priced at -110, meaning a $110 bet is needed to win $100.

Data shared with SDS shows that 67% of bets for 74% of the handle are on the over. The under is getting 33% of bets for 26% of the handle.

Whether Mark Sears, Grant Nelson and company can get going will help determine if that point total is reached. The Crimson Tide also have the tall task of trying to contain UConn’s Donovan Clingan.
