Washington went a long way in correcting the team’s defensive woes during the 2017 NFL Draft by selecting one of college football’s most dynamic defensive duos. It’s hard to imagine the Redskins won’t see immediate improvements on that side of the ball after selecting former Alabama teammates Jonathan Allen with the No. 17 overall selection and Anderson with the No. 49 selection during the latest draft.

Allen, of course, wore No. 93 for Alabama but will be switching to No. 95 in the NFL. Anderson, former No. 22 coming off the edge for Bama, will wear No. 52 in the pros.

Washington announced the news regarding the team’s top two picks Monday afternoon:

Last season alone, the duo combined for 19 sacks, 24.5 tackles-for-loss, 130 tackles and two defensive touchdowns. If they can bring a similar level of production with them to Washington, the Redskins could have one of the top defensive units in the league in 2017.
