SEC Tournament Best Bet: Our favorite play for Round 1 in Nashville

SEC Tournament play tips off in Nashville this evening with first-round matchups. Sure, these aren’t the best games that we’ll see this week, but we have to start somewhere, right?

Tonight’s action features the No. 11, 12, 13 and 14 seeds squaring off. Here’s a look at the tipoff times and TV information for Wednesday’s opening round action:

No. 12 Arkansas vs. No. 13 Vanderbilt: 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network
No. 11 Georgia vs. No. 14 Mizzou: 9:30 p.m. ET on SEC Network

As mentioned above, not the best slate of games. But Arkansas, Vanderbilt and Georgia have all shown signs of life at various points this season. Mizzou … well, not so much. The Tigers just finished off an abysmal 0-18 run in SEC play.

In this first-round action, there are some intriguing bets to be placed. But one stands out to me above the rest. Check out below to see what I’m going with as my best bet for Wednesday night over at DraftKings:

Sean East II, Mizzou — Over 19.5 points (-120 on DraftKings)

I’ve already covered that Mizzou has had a season from hell. But Missouri is still my alma mater, so let’s not focus on that, please.

Let’s instead focus on the play of Sean East II, which has been one of the lone bright spots in Columbia this year. He’s been handling most of the offense for the Tigers lately, and his over/under of 19.5 points seems a bit low based on his recent history.

In his last 7 games, he’s scored 26, 21, 27, 20, 33, 24 and 25 points. His 26% usage rate isn’t egregious, either. It’s not like he’s the only one touching the ball for Mizzou.

East only scored 18 points against Georgia earlier this year, but that was in the first SEC game for both teams. Things have changed since then and East is playing elite basketball down the stretch. It hasn’t translated to wins, but East’s offensive output should at least keep the Tigers competitive on Wednesday night.
