College football insider Brett McMurphy predicted the demise of the Pac-12 Conference during his appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Tuesday.

McMurphy recalled a time not too long ago in college football when there were 6 so-called power conferences, and that the Big East was one of those 6.

“So what happened?” McMurphy said to Finebaum. “They got raided by the ACC, and then now we’re left with the Power 5.”

McMurphy predicted a similar doomsday fate for the Pac-12 during the coming years.

“The same thing I think, unfortunately, is going to happen with the Pac-12,” said McMurphy. “They’re going to lose 4 schools to the Big Ten, and then I think 4 schools out of the Pac-12 — the Arizona schools, Utah and Colorado — take a lifeline to go to the Big 12, and then there’s no more Pac-12, and then we’ll be left with 4 power conferences.”

Will McMurphy’s predictions come true? We’ll see what happens as conference realignment rumors continue to dominate headlines around the country.
