College football continues to show its wild side in Week 4 involving a ref, a coach and a cell phone.

In James Madison’s 45-38 road win over Utah State, a coach tried to show a referee what happened during a play. The line judge then snatched the phone from the coach before the coach took the phone back.

The official forced the coach to keep the phone up. This incident happened with 10:29 left in the second quarter with the Dukes up 24-6 on the Aggies.

James Madison head coach Curt Cignetti and his coaching staff tried to question the validity of the Aggies’ 18-yard touchdown from placekicker Elliott Nimrod on a fake field goal.

This was the beginning of the Dukes and the Aggies trading touchdowns throughout the second quarter leading into halftime. There were 5 touchdowns and a field goal scored in this wild second quarter and, yet, the referee taking the phone like an annoyed teacher might have been the best thing about the quarter.

James Madison is one of only 2 teams to be undefeated in the Sun Belt, along with the Georgia State Panthers. It’s a serious team to be considered one of the best Group of 5 teams in the nation.
