Santino Marchiol has become a sad story as the former touted high school recruit has been blocked from simply walking on at Colorado by head coach Mel Tucker.

Marchiol signed with Texas A&M under Kevin Sumlin but left after Jimbo Fisher took over in College Station. Following his departure from the Aggies, Marchiol made accusations of abuse against Fisher and his A&M coaching staff. However, those claims were never supported elsewhere.

The Colorado native then followed Sumlin to Arizona but was dismissed from the Wildcat program after a video of Marchiol using a racial slur was discovered.

Looking for another fresh start, Marchiol was expected to join Tucker’s Colorado program as a walk-on this offseason. However, following a recent arrest for domestic violence, Colorado has pulled that offer.

The school issued the following statement on Friday:

“Santino was never enrolled as a CU Boulder student. He was invited to be a walk-on for the football team this fall. Coach Tucker has since rescinded that invitation.”

You won’t see many falls from grace as large as going from an elite recruit in high school, Marchiol was rated as a four-star recruit and the No. 17 inside linebacker prospect in the nation for the 2017 recruiting cycle, to not being able to land a walk-on opportunity.
