I'm not confident we can win another game this year. I picked us to lose to MS State at the beginning of the year, but not like this. I'm starting to think last year was a fluke and we are back to the basement.. Hope I'm wrong.
Pittman is a likable HC and team manager. He will go as far as his Coordinators allow him. I think he is about to realize the pressure of being the head "Pitt Boss." Time will tell how he responds.
Spot on woopig94. I said the same thing the first few games, while other fans were saying we were just holding back on the play calling until we played the SEC schedule. Either KB thinks our passing game stinks, or he is just not a good play caller. I feel like we have good receivers, and even Pittman said he went from concerned about our receivers during preseason, to concerned for the other teams because of how good they are. But this is definitely reminiscent of Nutt play calling, with the exception of McFadden, Felix Jones, and Hillis. And even with that backfield it didn't equate to a dominant season in the SEC.
I think Bama comes out expecting the run game, and will stop us in our tracks if we try the same old run 1st down, 2nd down, throw a slant and/or run 3rd down, followed by a punt. I think we should come out throwing the deep ball. If we catch them off guard, it works, and we gain some momentum. Make them respect the pass, then go back to the run/balanced pass game. However, based on our past play calling, I foresee a run heavy start, with a pass heavy/sad ending for my Razorbacks.
I know nothing about A&M history, but weren't they an all male military school back in the day? If so, I think it's admiral they stayed the course and maintained the historical significance. There was nothing feminine about the men of the generation(s) back then.
I just hope we don't get over confident in our run game and try to run the ball every down. Any team can eventually stop the run when they know it's coming, especially an SEC team. If we try that the first 2 quarters like we did against Missouri State, then there is no coming back against A&M or any remaining SEC teams.
My thoughts exactly. I would hope we wouldn't sleep on any SEC team, or BYU moving forward. If we play any of those opponents like we did against Missouri State, there is very little chance we come out with a win. Hoping we got that out of our system.
Can't really disagree, you made some good points. There are a lot of teams that you could interchange in that 5-15 range. Time will tell.
A win is a win. But you can't overlook the obvious. We have some big hurdles ahead. I don't believe we are a top 10 team yet (possible not top 20), but hope they prove me wrong moving forward.
I agree that they were conservative due to SC's inability to stop the run, but we had wide open receivers on a couple of those 3rd downs we didn't convert. It would be nice to let our receivers do a bit more catching rather than just blocking. But as soon as we play a team that can stop the run, it will be like the Ole Miss game last year, and I hope the chemistry it there between KJ and our receivers. I'm anticipating more of the same this week.
I have to agree with you here. Moving in the right direction, but still a pretty large gap.
I have to agree with aubforlife... I was thinking we are no better than last year after this game, but we really have had a brutal schedule the past two years. And that will eventually take a tow on your players health and mentality week end and week out, especially when you have no real depth. Playing both Georgia and Florida in the East last year, and Georgia again this year, is tough... But Auburn had a tough schedule this year as well, and they won. Better debth I would assume. Some bad calls? Yes. But we didn't play well enough to win either way. Auburn out coached us today.
Yeah, I think that ranking is more than fair. Proud of our team this Saturday, but it's still early in the season, and we have a brutal season ahead.
Calm down there big guy... Enjoy the win and stay classy.
I personally think Texas A&M got hosed by the College Playoff Committee. I guess that's just life in the SEC West.... It doesn't look good for North Carolina in this one.
My thoughts exactly! If it's a true injury, you would be out at least several plays (medical checks, etc.). So if you fall down on the field after the play, and after you got up all nonchalant, then you should be out at least one possession. With that said, our defense was so bad we didn't deserve to win. I love the Hudson Clark story, but teams have targeted the kid continuously. However, he was not alone. I didn't think we stood a chance once I heard Franks was out, but I was pleasantly surprised with KJs performance tonight, especially given his lack of experience. So at least that's a positive take away.
I totally agree. 2020 can't get over fast enough. What a crappy year....
I totally agree. We surely aren't going anywhere. But apparently Auburn isn't either. Welcome to the club! You beat a bottom feeder with the help of your refs. There are support groups out there once you recognize you have a problem...
We recovered the ball. However, this was after one of the "Auburn" refs blew the whistle, thus rendering the play dead. Congrats.
Good question. His clock is ticking though. Especially if this year has similiar collapses...
Not a good start, with the exception of A&M. TBD, I guess..........
Relax grammar police. Perhaps you should stop taking things so “seriously.” It’s an article on SDS, not a doctoral dissertation.
I'm not sure if you were addressing my comment or "Tiger's," but I have no problem with being confident and I hope you are right. I think we should win this game, but it seems like every game I've been "confident" about we didn't play very well. However, that was at the beginning of the season and we definitely have much more to be confident about now than we did then! Should be a good game.
A bit cocky aren’t we? Missouri has a lot to play for this week.
