Since the 1990s, Florida State has risen to the ranks of college football royalty. Under the legendary Bobby Bowden, the Seminoles won 2 national titles (in 1993 and 1999). The 1999 team was truly elite, winning all 11 games it played.
In 2013, Jimbo Fisher and Jameis Winston led the FSU program to the final national championship of the BCS era. The 2014 season began the College Football Playoff era.
Over the years, the Seminoles have produced 3 Heisman Trophy winners, all of whom have also won national championships — Charlie Ward in 1993, Chris Weinke in 2000 (he led FSU to the 1999 title) and Jameis Winston in 2013. The program also has produced 46 consensus All-Americans over the years.
The Seminoles’ relationship with the ACC has been dicey in recent years, so we’ll see what the future holds in Tallahassee.
