Three of the top 10 players in college football reside in the SEC according to Sports Illustrated.

LSU junior running back Leonard Fournette was listed as the best current player in college football as SI ranked the top 100 players heading into the 2016 season.

Fournette, who rushed for 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns as a sophomore, is expected to be one of the leading candidates in the Heisman Trophy race, as well.

The countdown piece said of Fournette:

In two years Fournette is already fourth on the Tigers’ career rushing chart (2,987 yards), and he’ll enter 2016 as a preseason first-team All-America certainty. If starting a college football team from scratch, one would be remiss to not pick Fournette with the first-overall selection.

Not far behind the Tigers running back on the list was Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett, who was projected as the nation’s second-best player.

Garrett was the conference’s leading pass-rusher in 2015, totaling 12.5 sacks on the year. He also tallied 19.5 tackles for loss last season.

Also named to the list in the top 10 was Alabama offensive tackle Cam Robinson, coming in at no. 7.
