Often outspoken and critical, Outkick the Coverage writer and radio host Clay Travis said on Thursday that he was once offered to work for the SEC Network in 2015.

Travis apparently turned down the network for a rather interesting reason.

As he put it, ESPN wanted to hire him on the network but he turned the “Worldwide Leader” down to eventually resign with Fox Sports:

The tweet stemmed as Travis was evidently reacting to an article in which he said ESPN was lying about him.

Travis said Politico is dropping a 4,500-word feature on him Friday. He was upset because Politico supposedly granted anonymity to ESPN executives to “take shots” at him.

It’s safe to say Travis, at this point, is pleased with his decision to not join the SEC Network.
