After a search of several coaching candidates, the Cleveland Browns have reportedly settled on a new coach.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network has reported, “Sources: The Browns are planning to hire Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski as their new head coach. Runner-up last year, winner this year.”

Stefanski was in his 14th season in 2019 with the Minnesota Vikings and first as the offensive coordinator, a position he held on an interim basis to end the 2018 season. He has coached quarterbacks, tight ends and running backs in his tenure with the team and Stefanski served as the quarterbacks coach in 2017 and 2018 before being elevated to Interim Offensive Coordinator for the final 3 games of 2018.

Before Minnesota, Stefanski spent the 2005 season at his alma mater, Pennsylvania, as assistant director of football operations, coordinating all aspects of the Quakers’ day-to-day operations.

A team captain as a senior in 2004, Stefanski was part of one of the most successful stretches in the history of the Quaker football program. The team won Ivy League titles in 2000, 2002 and 2003, and the squad went undefeated in league play during 2002 and 2003.

The Browns fired Freddie Kitchens after just one season, and had several interviews, including Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Buffalo Bills and former Alabama offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.
