Cole Cubelic had a welcome-to-the-SEC episode of his “Cube Show” podcast, and offered Oklahoma and Texas a bit of a primer for why the SEC is different.

Cubelic, a former Auburn offensive lineman, SEC Network sideline reporter and WJOX co-host, is well-versed in what separates the SEC from other conferences. Cubelic noted that he’s often asked this outside the SEC footprint, such as in New York, Chicago or California. It goes beyond the corporate slogan that “It Just Means More.”

“Let me educate you guys on what the real difference is in the SEC,” Cubelic said. “We love to hate more than we love to love. Period. That’s it. We love the other team that we root against the most to lose more than we love for our team to win. And a lot of people can’t internally admit that, but when you watch them or talk to them, it’s blatantly obvious that it’s happening. You go to social media, it’s a very real thing.”
