Cole Cubelic shares SEC takeaways following Week 10 games
Cole Cubelic delivers takeaways every Sunday following Saturday’s SEC games, a social media staple during the college football season.
Even without a full slate of conference contests (Ole Miss was on a bye and Arkansas faced Liberty), Week 10 was the biggest Saturday of the 2022 SEC season. Georgia and LSU sit atop the divisions after big-time wins over rivals Tennessee and Alabama.
Here’s what Cubelic had to say after watching each team’s Saturday performance:
ARKANSAS: Looked flat. Struggled with replacement defenders & stunts up front. 14 TFLs can’t happen. Too many negative plays. Got hurt too much from depth. Had 1 on 1’s. Too much on perimeter. 3 stepping up. Didn’t have an answer for 3 on the other side. Pass rush wasn’t enough.

FLORIDA: Solid win on road. Needed it. Got run game going early. Set up play action. 2 ran with authority. Right side of OL was nice. 1 really coming on. 33 stepped up when they needed him. Not the best day vs the run but they took the ball away. Discipline an issue on that side.

KENTUCKY: You take every road win in this league. Were able to grind out yards on the ground vs a really good front. Pass pro just not good enough. Levis efficient. 6 big late. 32 had a nice day on D. Great on 3rd down. Too many flags. Punter made an amazing play. Helped save a W

MISSISSIPPI STATE: On fire early then hit a wall. Weather had an impact. Rodgers accuracy impressive. Gets it out so quick. OL struggled. OTs sloppy footwork. Def didn’t have answer for QB runs or bigger formations. Struggled to set edge. 2 really good. Showed guts. Take the win.

SOUTH CAROLINA: Big game for 3, like using him in different ways. Liked seeing 5 at QB some. Doing right things to try to generate more explosives. 17 brought it on reverses! Just need to clean things up, flags, drops, missed stunts/pressures, etc. Got to QB, didn’t fit run well.

TEXAS A&M: Obviously the numbers were going to be tough to overcome with guys out. 6 was great. 1 was great. 7 solid again. Still allowing too much leakage up front. Turnovers killer. Def didn’t fit the run well. Lost contain multiple times for Vinci plays. Play action hurt.

VANDERBILT: Had success on the ground. 2 is a joy to watch run it. QB took too many hits. Have to clean up pressure. Turnovers way too much to overcome. East west game hurt the defense. Didn’t get off blocks. Got displaced at times. 43 was flying around. The effort has not died.
