While not entirely related to college football, we’ve got some interesting news out of Arizona as Governor Doug Ducey is opening up his state for the return of professional sports this week.

Beginning Saturday, May 16, professional sports can resume in the state without fans being present, according to the governor. Ducey also noted that all public health protections and CDC guidelines must be followed for sports to take place in the state.

Don’t be surprised if you see professional sports flock to the state following this news.

The governor noted that this decision comes after speaking to leaders of sports leagues, which suggests we could soon see some form of sports come to Arizona that may not have otherwise been scheduled to do so before the coronavirus pandemic.

Sports won’t be able to return to full capacity until leagues decide to return to action themselves but this news is just the latest sign that professional sports are getting closer to making a return.
