Joel Klatt of FOX Sports has reacted to the news of Clay Helton being fired from USC with a new ranking of the best jobs in college football since leading the Trojans makes the cut.

Klatt pegs USC at No. 3 behind Texas and Alabama, and ahead of Ohio State and Georgia.

The variables that often go into making such a list are support and leadership from the athletics director and president/chancellor, alumni support or criticism and media coverage. There’s also resources, recruiting footprint and facilities with staff support in the sense of salaries and support staff mixed in.

Klatt immediately got push back in his Twitter replies about LSU as each of the last 3 coaches have all won national titles, which isn’t something the other schools can say. LSU also has a big recruiting advantage.

As USC continues its search, look for more discussion about this topic in the days and weeks ahead.
