Enough with the bragging.

The SEC used all week to jab others because of soft schedules but didn’t hold up its end of the bargain during a Saturday that is sure to knock several teams out of the Top 25.

The SEC wasn’t the only Power 5 league that struggled …

SEC (9-5, B-)

This one hurt in Knoxville. Tennessee blew a 14-point, fourth-quarter lead to fall for the 28th time in its last 29 games against ranked teams, letting Bob Stoops and Oklahoma off the hook. The league’s worst loss came in Little Rock where, despite over 500 yards of total offense, Arkansas fell to Toledo. An unimpressive Saturday for the SEC could’ve turned horrific had Auburn suffered an overtime loss to Jacksonville State. Cassanova McKinzy’s key sack on third down in the extra session led to a fourth-down heave that fell incomplete for the Gamecocks and avoided one of the most embarrassing losses in school history fort the Tigers.

Pac-12 (10-2, B+)

The Pac-12 lost its spotlight game at Michigan State as Oregon didn’t have quite enough offense at the end, but the league as a whole flourished with 10 wins in 12 contests. Nationally-ranked USC and Arizona won big and Stanford bounced back from a season-opening loss at Northwestern.

Big 10 (12-2, A)

Ohio State and Michigan State, two potential Playoff teams, played well in their respective home games, strengthening cases that the Buckeyes and Spartans are easily the two best teams in the Big 10. Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook didn’t have his best outing, but it was enough thanks to the Spartans’ fierce front seven against Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams.

Clemson easily covered against Appalachian State while Dalvin Cook rushed for 265 yards during Florida State’s 20-point win over South Florida. And Boston College? Try a 76-point beating of Howard.

Big 12 (8-2, A-)

Baylor and TCU each won emphatically, but it was 19th-ranked Oklahoma who posted one of college football’s biggest win on Saturday, downing 23rd-ranked Tennessee at Neyland Stadium, 31-24, in double overtime. Coach Bob Stoops called it the most satisfying win of his career. The talented teams shined while Kansas and Iowa State suffered the Big 12’s two losses.
