Early in Thursday’s Egg Bowl, Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald went down with a severe ankle injury, which kept him out for the remainder of the game and may keep him out through the Bulldogs’ bowl game.

The absence of the star quarterback proved to be an important difference in the game, as the Bulldogs fell to rival Ole Miss 31-28.

However, after the game, there was concern from both sidelines for the star quarterback, as even star Ole Miss WR A.J. Brown tweeted his well wishes to Fitzgerald on Friday morning:

Many have looked at the play and said it looked like the Ole Miss defender made a dirty play against Fitzgerald, but Brown added that the intent from his teammate was not to injure the star quarterback.

You never want to see a player go down with an injury like Fitzgerald’s, rival or not, so hopefully he is able to make a full recovery.

Brown will certainly be thinking of Fitzgerald as the Mississippi State star enters a long rehab process.
