Jim Harbaugh isn’t your conventional head coach, and he surely isn’t your conventional recruiter.

Could you ever see this happen in the SEC?

According to Scout.com, Michigan’s head coach is having a sleepover with the nation’s top high school kicker, Quinn Nordin, in order to woo him to the Wolverines over Penn State, where he’s currently committed. The dead period ends at 12:01 a.m. Friday, and Harbaugh intends to be at Nordin’s residence.

“He said we can watch a movie, see how well we gel and he said he would sleep over after that,” Nordin said. “I was in tears laughing when he said that. He said the next day, if my parents didn’t want me to miss school, he would go to every class with me and go to lunch with me. I was laughing so hard.

“He told me if I had a 6-foot-3 inch piece of carpet for him to sleep on, that would be enough. I said we have guest rooms, and he said ‘Tell you what, I’ll just sleep on the floor in your room.’ I said ‘Coach, I have Penn State stuff all over my walls.’ He said, ‘Tell you what, I can help you take it down.’”

So, yeah, that’s what recruiting is coming to these days.

Harbaugh is also pushing the limits on spring practice, where he reportedly wants to hold a portion of Michigan’s practice at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Assuming that satellite camps eventually go away, more northern teams could opt to go this route.

With respect to the sleepover, Harbaugh is just showing the prospect he will do anything to get him signed this recruiting cycle, but it certainly makes for a great headline, doesn’t it?

Regardless of whether you like Harbaugh or not, there’s no denying he’s great for college football.
