Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin apparently reached out to at least one other SEC school before deciding to cancel the Gators’ home opener against Northern Colorado on Saturday with Hurricane Irma looming.

Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs apparently said during a “Tiger Talk” radio appearance on Thursday that Florida reached out about potentially playing its Week 2 game in Jordan-Hare Stadium, according to Josh Vitale of Opelika-Auburn News.

Jacobs said other schools inquired about doing so, as well. Jordan-Hare Stadium will be open this weekend as the 13th-ranked Tigers travel east to battle No. 3 Clemson.

Jacobs apparently also said that there are “no plans for a change” in schedule for Auburn because of the hurricane.

Florida will soon begin preparations for Tennessee, as it was forced to cancel Saturday’s game.
