As the superlatives continue to pour in following Alabama’s 29-0 win at LSU, fans and experts around college football are reaching for ways to describe the Crimson Tide’s dominance.

On the SEC Network this week, analyst Marcus Spears openly wondered when was the last time Alabama suffered a loss outside a prolific individual performance.

Co-host Peter Burns mentioned Cam Newton, Tim Tebow, Johnny Manziel, while Spears said Ezekiel Elliott and Cardale Jones or Deshaun Watson. Spears also mentioned Jarrett Stidham last year.

“He had a magnificent performance against Alabama,” Spears said on “SEC This Morning” on the SEC Network as he added RB Kerryon Johnson to the mix.

“Have we just gotten to the point where, you can have all the Xs and Os you want to,” Spears said, “you can have the best plan put together. Dave Aranda has had a great plan every game. He’s done a tremendous job every game. LSU was No. 3 in the country going into this game. The No. 1 team in the country (Alabama) and the No. 3 team (LSU) look like they’re 5 years away from even being equal.”

With as many as nine games remaining still if Alabama runs the table, the discussion about where this team ranks in history, and how it would measure up against other historic teams will persist.
