The Southeastern Conference’s growth into one of the best conferences in college basketball has been quick and the league continues to do what it can to keep itself ahead of the competition. The latest example of that comes with the new SEC vs. AAC basketball series.

The SEC has been partnered up with the Big 12 in an annual basketball showdown for several years now but the only disadvantage to that series is the fact the Big 12 doesn’t have enough teams to match up with the SEC. In an attempt to add quality matchups for the four SEC teams that are annually left out of the SEC vs. Big 12 challenge, the SEC has partnered up with the AAC.

The inaugural matchups for the SEC vs. AAC basketball series have been revealed as first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports:

  • Georgia at Memphis
  • Houston at South Carolina
  • Ole Miss at Wichita State
  • Vanderbilt vs. SMU (no location has been set at this time)

Each of the four series will be home-and-homes, meaning Georgia will travel to Memphis the following season, South Carolina to Houston, etc.
